Student Creations

Artists: Ste Anne Collegiate students
Date: May 1-24, 2013
Exhibit Opening: May 1 at 7pm at the Steinbach Cultural Arts Centre - Come out to celebrate with us!

In today's world we are constantly bombarded by titles, categories and labels.  Ste. Anne Collegiate students decided to make a statement by creating works of art without titles.
Students were given chalk pastels and black paper to design their pictures. After learning different soft pastel techniques, students were given the freedom to create anything they wanted with one criterion: blend! At first students were lost without having a theme/category/label/title but once they began putting their colours to the paper, creativity poured out! They were proud of their untitled creations and wanted the viewer to be able to look at their work without the limitation imposed by a title.

Digital prints and posters by graduates of Winnipeg's Red River College Graphic Design program

Tylor Reimer is employed at Brandt and is excited about his upcoming wedding.

Chris Barkman has always been interested in the Creative Arts, whether it be drawing, animation, painting or sculpture. Graphic Design looked to be a vessel to pull all those interests together under one title. Today he is a Designer at Golden West... and helping out Steinbach's thriving community one ad at a time.

Laurel Friesen (soon to be Reimer!) is employed at Steinbach Credit Union and does graphic design on the side.

Shannon Neufeld has always loved Fine Arts (especially painting) and has doodled in sketch books ever since she can remember. Growing up in the country, she only stumbled upon Graphic Design in her mid-20s... the two year program at RRC was definitely a crash course, as she didn't grow up having a computer and she had never done anything digital beyond Windows Paintbrush before. Shannon is currently the Marketing Coordinator at Steinbach Arts Council.

Jadyn Klassen is currently on an adventure in Istanbul, so it's good that all he needs is an internet connection to get his posters where they need to be.
