Our Buy or Lease Art Program artists come from all over the Southeast - Steinbach, St Pierre and beyond. The Buy or Lease Art Program is a project of the Southeast Visual Arts Committee of Steinbach to put local art in our community. Proceeds are directed to the artists, encouraging the acqusition fo new orks, and towards educational programs in Visual Arts development.

Expressions: Exploring Recovery Through Art

The mission statement for Expressions exhibits are to be a community event that showcases the outstanding ability of artists who use art in the journey of recovery from a mental health problem. Objectives include increased knowledge and understanding about mental health problem for those in attendance and to heighten the awareness and appreciation for the recovery process and creative skills of people with a mental health problem.

Artist: Mark Giesbrecht

Mark Giesbrecht is an artist, author, luthier and an aspiring musician. Although he has many passions, art has been - and still is - a huge part of Mark's life. Mark believes that through his paintings and drawing is the best way to express his deepest and purest emotions. Along with his artwork, Mark still finds time to write novellas and compose music, all while running a part-time guitar building and repair business. He finds himself overwhelmed at times, due to his obsessive drive for his passions... but he can't see himself living any other way. "Living life should be about inspiring people, or at least doing your best to do so. We have so much to learn from one another. When we actually take the time to listen to each other, we find out that we're not so alone in this world... and that's what makes progress possible."

Linda Leger took art in high school, but it was only after moving to Winnipeg to be reunited with her high school sweethear and soul mate Pat, that she discovered her passion for photography . They purchased a camera thinking it would be fun. Linda developed a passion for photography and is self-taught, with an uncanny eye for detail and a knack for composition. Photography was a focus for her while going through chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer in 2010. She intends to pursue photography until she no longer can. She is an inspiration.

This group of students all met at Red River College and graduated from the Graphic Design program in 2010, 2011 or 2012. The program provided very specialized training in web and print design using the Adobe suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Flash). Chris is married and is currently working at Golden West Radio, Laurel is employed at Steinbach Credit Union and does graphic design on the side, Shannon is the Marketing Coordinator at Steinbach Arts Council and Tylor is also employed at Golden West Radio.
