Cynthia Rempel Patrick

Director of Development

Celebrating her 25th year as the Chief Creative Officer of the Steinbach Arts Council, Cindi is the founder of the Steinbach Cultural Arts Centre, home to over 60 Arts development programs, a Hall Gallery Exhibit season and a support Centre for Artists and Arts Organizations in Southeastern Manitoba. She oversaw the Concert Series, KR Concerts and all performing arts programming until the recent hire of a Director of Performing Arts.  Cindi was recently awarded the Senate of Canada 150th Anniversary Medal for her contribution to the Arts Community.  Her work and volunteer experience within the provincial Department of Cultural Development, Associated Manitoba Arts Festivals, The Treble Teens, Southeastern Music and Arts Festival, Manitoba Arts Network, Arts and Cultural Industries Inc, is incorporated with her business experience as a florist and creator/manager of Kids R Kute! Custom Clothing. For the past 12 years, she has served on the Manitoba Arts Council, as Vice Chair, Audit/Finance Chair and Acting Chair overseeing their budget of over 10 million dollars. Cindi began her music career as a pianist, accompanist, singer, choral director and piano and voice teacher for over 25 years.  She finds it rewarding to give back to the community and her passion for the value of the arts to quality of life is highly recognized with the City of Steinbach and surrounding region.

David Klassen

Director of Programming

BM University of Manitoba, MM University of Minnesota

Noted for his “rich baritone” (Minneapolis Star Tribune), David Klassen holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Manitoba. As a soloist, He has been engaged by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Saskatoon Opera, and the WSO singing Rossini’s Largo al Factotum for a Canada Day audience of thirty thousand. Over the last 15 years, David has taught for Providence University College, Canadian Mennonite University, and the University of Manitoba Desautels Faculty of Music. His students have been accepted to undergraduate and graduate music programs in both Canada and the United States including University of Toronto, University of Manitoba, McGill, Boston Conservatory, and the New York Film Institute. In 2015, he was nominated for CBC’s “Manitoba Future 40” award for his work as a singer and university educator in the province, and in his home city of Steinbach where he has been acknowledged numerous times as one of the region’s greatest contributors to the Arts.

Sydney Rempel

Development Admin Assistant

Sydney has been part of the Steinbach area her whole life and has been working with the Steinbach Arts Council since 2017. Although she is not musically or artistically gifted herself, her time at the arts council has given her an appreciation of art and music. She enjoys being part of the community through sports, such as spikeball, ultimate frisbee, and hockey, and volunteering at her church.  She is currently pursuing an Environmental Studies degree at the University of Manitoba. She is passionate about the environment and shares her reduce and reuse habits with the SAC office. Her other passions include reading, ice cream, and Netflix.

Tara Schellenberg

Performing Arts Assistant

Tara Schellenberg has a love of performing arts and a passion for arts administration. After obtaining her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the U of M, Tara spent years working in VFX and film production management at Frantic Films, Prime Focus, and Buffalo Gal Pictures. Tara is thrilled to be giving back to the arts community in her hometown of Steinbach. When she’s not serving in her role at the Steinbach Arts Council, you can find her teaching piano, singing in various vocal ensembles around town, running after her kids, or crocheting with a cat on her lap.

Teri Chabot

Office & Facility Administrator

Teri has been living in the South East for the last 15 years and has been involved in our community through hockey programs and volunteering at various community events.  She recently started working here at the Arts Council as our Office and Facility Administrator. Before we got the pleasure of getting to know Teri she was working as an active stay at home mom to three kids and was highly involved in Mitchell summer sports.
